About

Three years of work
behind the degree.

Before university I spent three years in electronics assembly, warehousing, construction and live event production. Those jobs taught me to work carefully, keep to a schedule and take responsibility for the result. I am applying the same standard to Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Victoria University of Wellington.

Experience

Work and study.

Victoria University of Wellington, BE (Hons)

First year of Electrical and Electronic Engineering: circuits, electronics, engineering mathematics and programming, alongside part-time work.

City on a Hill, church tech team (volunteer)

Part of the live production team for weekly services. Everything is set up beforehand and run live, with no second take.

Event and construction crew (casual)

Christmas tree installations and concert pack-downs. Physical, schedule-driven work under site safety requirements.

Chilly Box, packer and store assistant (part-time)

Packed and dispatched food orders, kept stock moving, and maintained the freezers, yard and site.

Beta Solutions, assembly and testing (casual)

Assembled and tested several hundred electronic products, including LCD modules, glass fronts and populated PCBs. Also built shelving systems and supported the wider team.

What I bring

Useful on day one.

  • 01

    Attention to detail

Assembled and tested many units at Beta Solutions, right the first time.

  • 02

    Time management

Full-time study, casual work and a weekly volunteer commitment, none of them dropped.

  • 03

    Teamwork

I join an established crew on a line, a site or a live service and make myself useful inside a shift.

  • 04

    Safety and procedure

Site inductions, safety procedures and written work instructions followed exactly.

  • 05

    Reliability and stamina

Consistent through long, repetitive shifts, early starts and late pack-downs.

  • 06

    Systems and code

Linux, Docker, networking and web. I built this site and the server it runs on, and it scores A+ on Mozilla Observatory.

  • 07

    Working with AI

I use AI every day as an engineering tool. I scope the problem myself, direct the model, then review and test what comes back. Nothing ships that I cannot explain line by line.
